Easy one for you guys -- In the early V8 years where the front motor mount was a U shaped bracket that fastened to the front crossmember, did v8 trucks come from the factory with the I6 motor mounting point rivetted to the crossmember too, or was that omitted on v8s?
I'm preparing the front crossmember of my truck. I've got 2 crossmembers, but both were from original I6s.

Brian | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | no U shaped mount - the early V8s [TF years] had mounts that riveted on the cross member on each side near the original 235 mount points [the larger hole in the cross member in that pic], and the pegs were attached to the front of the motor - the V8 mounts were only put on if the truck was getting a V8 - by 60, they used the side mounting points on the V8, well behind the front cross member, which should still have the holes in it for the 235 mounting points Bill | | | | | Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 158 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 158 | Red,
Sorry, I guess I should have been more specific. I'm talking specifically about on my '60. My v8 is mounted to a U shaped bracket at the front of the engine.
