I am having the hardest time with my 1949 Chevy. I inherited my Dads truck after he passed last year, and I have tried to fix it. My problem is that while its a 49, I found out the hard way that it has a 230-250 engine. It was a hassle to go to auto parts stores and ask for parts for that particular year. They are always wrong. Anyways, enough of my ranting. My problem now is my Huck style brakes. I am trying to figure out why I don't have parking brakes. I bought new cables and I hooked them up. When I step on the park brake on the inside... nothing moves. The brake shoes do not engage. I have bought the Chevy manual with all of the diagrams but it does not show how the inside of the brakes are put together. Can anyone tell me where I can get a diagram of how to put these brakes together. I am probably missing some parts. Sorry for the long post, but I am at my wits end. I need an inspection sticker and my truck cannot pass without these emergency brakes.
