is the vin number the plate on the door post if it is my title dosent match

Depends,What Year?
On the 40,s the VIN was on a plate on the Pass. side cowl and only readable when the hood was opened.
The Advance Design trucks starting about mid yr 47 thru mid yr 55 were on the drivers side door post between hinge pockets
Likewise the Task Force trucks that followed thru 59.
The 60/66 and 67/72s varied between the door pillar and the windshield pillar and Ive even seen some on the roof pillar, BUT all on the Drivers side.

Check the Engine Serial #,Sometimes Different States Titled their Vehicles off of that #

Your profile doesn't show the year of truck and you dont say. If your handle indicates the year (1932) the VIN was probably the engine number. Most states used the engine number prior to 1955. I'm not positive of the location of the engine number in 1932. In 1937 it was on a boss on the passenger side next to the fuel pump. 1938 it was on a boss behind and below the distributer. You might look for any raised boss on the passenger side & check for a stamped number. Good Luck.
