Just about every Old Navy clothing store I've been into has an Advanced Design Chevy or GMC on display. A clerk told me they have 59 stores. Thats alot of blue trucks. Does anyone know their fate?

Hey Stevo
This same discussion has been around these forums before. I also asked the question, What's going to happen to those trucks if/when Old Navy starts a new/different marketing campaign? It's almost certain none of them have titles. Hopefully there will be an outlet other than the crusher. eek

I don't know about the ones around you guys, but the truck at my local store has no motor or trans, but a suprisingly clean, straight body with little bondo. I was actually thinking of popping some trim off next time I go there!

I too have wondered the same thing. They seem to be stripped down to just a display, but a lot of cool trucks start that way. The ones that I have seen have good bodies and most of the interiors, etc. It makes you wonder what will happen to them, I imagine they will go to the crusher unless someone happens to come in at the right time. They have been fixtures at Old Navy since they opened so if you ever hear of them going out of business then you better run down and ask for the truck. You might also call their HQ and see what they say about the old trucks.

I have a '51 4400 that was bought at auction when one of the local Navy yards disposed of it. I thought that was what this thread was about, old trucks once owned by the Navy...

I often wear an Old Navy t-shirt because of the truck picture on the front. That's another way to get an Old Navy truck!

I emailed Old Navy and they thanked me for my interest. They said they are not for sale at this time.

It is every 'Bolters civic duty to email "Old Navy" and let them know that there is someone willing to "adopt" each and every truck that is in their stores, should they ever desire to "unload" them.

Also, make them understand that if they improperly dispose of said vehicles, that "we" will not spend our hard earned $$ there any more.

Another quality post.

Great. With all you guys emailing them, they're gonna figure they can get '70 Chevelle SS prices for them when the time comes

Seriously -- maybe they will get the idea that they're worth more than just scrap value and let us at them when the time comes.

Keep it up!

I think the deal was or legend was that the owner
had an old blue pickup that he called "old Navy"
makes a good story. The closet mall to me in NE ohio had an old navy with a nice '52 minus all the guts etc.. the flat blue and red tires looked good, they did not renew their lease and now it's gone along with the truck, for what it's worth I have only seen 47-53's have not seen a 54 or 55 1st.

I have never seen a GMC in Old Navy. Also, all the trucks that I have seen have had a lot of Bondo added and brand new grills.

Any body ever seen one of Old Navy's little plastic advertising trucks? A friend of mine's wife found one at a garage sale. It was yellow and made of soft plastic, about 3 or 4 inches long. Looked like a '47 to '53. I've been all over garage sales and e-bay, but have never seen another one.

The trucks in most of the Bass Pro Shops are 3/4 ton AD flatbeds. I actually crawled under one while mom was going throught the clothes dept. and they still have the running gear in them. All they would need is some gas, oil, and a battery and they could be driven out the door. Bass Pro actually takes the time to put good metal on them, unlike Old Navy that coats their trucks with bondo and a new coat of paint. The Old Navy's truck in Salisbury has hollow places in it where they just covered the rust holes with chicken wire and still more bondo. But I guess most of the people shopping in there wouldn't notice that, much less know that it is a Chevy.

There's a restaurant chain here in Calgary called Montana's that has 3/4 ton AD's mounted above the dining area. It looks like the engine and tranny have been removed to reduce the weight of the vehicle.

I saw a solid looking AD flatbed in Pigeon Forge, Tn. last week. It looked to be a 1 1/2 ton, being used as a yard ornament at a hotel. It was kinda a differant paint scheme, flat black body with green fenders. One of our local gas stations has a gutted Model A pickup out front, I know the owner and he says he's eventually gonna fix it. Yeah I know it's not a bolt, but any old iron is cool. grin

Yes, they will be for sale at some point.

We just got our first shipment in this afternoon so we are going to take a little time to evalute their condition before setting any pricing.

I'll keep ya posted....

I have a friend who has a contact at GAP corporate. They are going to 'slowly' start phasing them out of the Old Navy stores over the next 3-4 years.

(Old Navy is a brand of GAP Inc.)

That's a way cool photo, Robert.

The Old Navy store truck I saw in San Diego had a '54 bed, GMC dash & a '47-'53 Chevy grille...

A friend of our best friends went bonkers when he saw my truck & wanted to buy it. Now he's got a hood & GMC grille painted like Jack but with flames & it's hanging in his clothing store ('Chamuco' brand, Ensenada).

There is a chain of diners in Northern California called (I think) Black Bear. Their company logo is an AD with a bunch of bears in the bed. Seems the owner has an AD but the only thing available is a tee-shirt with the logo.

The Bass Pro Shop here in OKC has an AD Pickup, looks to be a half ton. It's up high on a mountain display against the back wall where no one can get to it. The truck looks to be in original patina of faded paint, dings and surface rust, has a canoe mounted on top and is parked in front of a small cabin. Very cool display....my favorite part of the whole store.

Also, In the Eskimo Joes store at the Quail Springs Mall in OKC, they have a '41-'46 big bolt front clip hanging on the wall, with lights underneath shining down on a clothing display. It is in original black paint with scratches and love dings.

I have not been in an Old Navy store for awhile myself but the last time I looked the local store still had its truck. In fact the Decatur, IL store truck is really a 54/55-1st GMC with the flat dash disguised as a Chevy with a chrome repop 47-53 grille.

There is a mega outdoor sporting store in Denver with a red AD and it looked familiar to me so I picked at the paint in a small unseen spot and guess what I found?? Yup, the blue paint. I guess Bass Pro thought the AD would be a nice T-shirt rack too.

Thats exactly what they have it loaded down with, t-shirts. This one isnt an Old Navy truck b/c it has the original flatbed on it. Its painted black with silver fenders and the grille is silver too. Its a rather neat combination if you step back and look at it. I'm no expert on the AD trucks, but I think it is a 51 or 52. The Bass Pro in Myrtle Beach has a half-ton set up right near the entrance of their store too.

Maybe they are getting rid of their old trucks. I went to their website to order a tee shirt with the old truck on it and I didn't see any, just tee shirts with their name on them.
