Went all the way to the Pate Swap Meet in Ft Worth yesterday, mainly to get parts from Truck Shop. Even confirmed they would be there by phone. Turns out they pulled out on Friday at 11AM. They guys next to where they had been parked say they do that every year, anxious to get back home, since they have been on the road a long time. No more business from me for them.

I used to buy from Truck Shop, and had the same problem at Pate. It seems the people answering the phones only know how to work a computer and know nothing about parts. The last time I ordered from them I got 3 items and had to send 2 back because they didn't work for me. The people on the phone assured me they would. Went to Chevy Duty because the phone people there are very knowledgeable. I've never had a problem with them.

This isn't the same "Truck Shop" based in Orange, CA is it? Would make sense, as their business etiquete at home is the same.

i odered a set of brake lines for my 54 from them. the set came in and the only line that would fit my pick up were the ones across the back axle. the remainder weren't even close. each was tagged for a 51-55 1st series. when i called them and we doubled check the numbers etc he said "that is what we show for your pick up". i told him that when i said they weren't even close i meant they weren't even close - he replied "well can't you bend them to fit"!!!!!!!! - i will say however, that he did permit me to return them at their cost and my money was refunded.

Well the early bird gets the worm guys. If you get to the swapmeet the first day then you usually get what you want. No good deals the second or third day. The old rumor of guys out early in the morning with flashlights isnt a rumor. As far a the Truck shop goes I havent dealt with them yet, ill let you know.

Yes, same Truck Shop, out of LA area.
There is another "Truck Shop", in Georgia I believe.
Only reason I used to deal with them is they have the best prices. But service counts.
