Search the site this is a ongoing problem with these carbs.

It sounds like your power valve is being starved for a vacuum signal. If you have the hard rubber spacer on the manifold you don't need a gasket anyway.

With the engine off look down the carb throat & work the throttle. Each time you open the throttle a squirt of gas should go in the throat. Also check your float level. If it is too low it will cause this problem. Notice what size main metering jet is in it. It should be stamped on it. It is usually is 53-55. Sometimes these rebuilders put in any part that happens to be handy. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. The accelerator pump is the first place to look. Like the man said, with the engine off, giving the throttle a twist should cause a little sqirt of gas to come out. This must work or you will get those symptoms. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 6,377 Ex Hall Monitor | | Ex Hall Monitor Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 6,377 | Ted & Wrenchbender are right. You have classic lean condition symptoms. I'd bet it's the accelerator pump.
