I have a drivers side that I can't use. http://www.bunchobikes.com/subfender.htm | | | | | Joined: Jul 2002 Posts: 102 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2002 Posts: 102 | The actual difference in the 54 front fenders is all in the front. The grill opening is the same in opening shape, but the bolt holes in this area are different. The indention for the grill in the front is only 54/55. I think, but not sure, think the splash apron bolt holes are different. Like I said, not for sure on that. If you really need positive info on this, private email me and I'll take a picture of a 53 and a 54 front fender and show you. I have both off and in my shop.

It was bending the top of my grill. | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 323 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: May 2005 Posts: 323 | I figure the fenders are not as readily available for '54-'55 1st because they were only used for 1 1/2 years...probably why my truck ended up (before my dad bought it in '71) with the earlier fenders and thus, the earlier grille.

When I got it he said the guy before him did it, and 'thank god they didn't cut the 51 fenders for the signal pods.' Well.... it turns out I've got 54 fenders with the indentation for the turn signals and need the '47-'53 fenders. Sort of planned on swapping them with someone and thought that if I can't find a trade I'll cut out the indentations and weld in some sheet metal to make them into '51 fenders.

Someone would be happy to take them off of your hands if they are relatively rust free. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 887 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 887 | They've been sandblasted inside and out. There is a little bit of plastic filler (bondo) skim coat on one of them.
They are rust free, straight, and ready for finishing. You'd probably want to etching primer them and/or hit them with a DA and some 80 grit before primering and then painting.
I'd take $350 for both, plus shipping/boxing for them.
What I'd do is take them to a UPS store and have them boxed and shipped.

I found a set of '51's locally so I won't need the '54 - 55 1st outer fenders and will post them in the swap meet next week.
