ok,so the firing order is 18436572.I know the location of no 1 on the cap.going clockwise is 8 the second wire on or is the no 2 cylender second?In other words do i folow the firing order around the cap after no 1 is on, 8 4 3 6 5 7 2 or do i go by cylender position, 2 3 4 5 6 7 8?

I'm sure that if I'm wrong someone will point it out. grin If you know the firing order, the position of #1 on the cap and the direction of rotation of the rotor, the next pin the rotor contacts after #1 would have to be #2 on the firing order. In your case cylinder #8. The next would have to be cylinder #4 etc.. If you connected the second pin to cylinder #2 it wouldn't be on the compression stroke and ready to fire.
