My uncle just purchased a 1967 Chevy 40 series truck, and was wondering what size it is? Is it a beefed up 1 ton truck, or more of a light duty 1 1/2 ton truck? He was also wondering if there were many of them made, says he hadn't seen one before. He might try to sell it but is trying to establish what it might be worth. It runs fine and the body is in fair condition.

I think you can run the VIN thru the decoder at American Classic and it'll tell you the 'ton' rating.

Does it have dualies on the back? I'd guess anything 1.5 ton or bigger would have dualies on the back.

I've seen C10's (1/2ton) C20's (3/4 ton) and C60's (2+ ton) but I don't remember ever seeing a 40.. but I can't say as tho I was ever looking all that close, either.

an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.

I'll get the VIN and try that out. I've also seen 30, 50 & 60 series trucks, but not the 40 series. I think it has the dual wheels on the back, along with a flatbed.
