I notice some guys are putting in duel master cylinders in their trucks. Will a properly funtioning original single master cylinder work just as good? I am thinking of not going with power brakes. I would like to keep things simple. Truck will be powered by a 235 and either patrick's 3:55 gears in torque tube or a 3:43 rearend out of a mid 70's 4x4. My truck is a '52 1/2 ton. She is almost down to the frame and it is time to start putting things back together. Thanks for any and all input, Wayne

ZB3 - A single cylinder master will work just fine. The reason many of us choose to change to a dual system is for safety. If you get a leak in ANY line on a single cylinder system you have no brakes at all, but on a dual system the fronts and rears are separated so that if you develop a leak you will still have one set of brakes to stop you.

It's your choise, single or double, they both will work.

You can find a narrow bore NON-BOOSTED dual master to bolt into the stock location using the stock pedal and it shouldn't cost too much at a FLAPS. Something from a similar size/weight vehicle with the same type of brakes (four wheel drum).

You can make your own bracket to mount it or buy one from any number of suppliers. Making it isn't too hard. If you don't have either the drill or welder you can mock it up out of cardboard and have a machineshop make it for less than the $90 the bracket costs new.

If you use the dual master you might also consider the proportioning and residual valves.

There are lots of threads on the conversion. Try the search button.

I just installed a manual dual master cylinder from CCP on my 50 chev. The power unit will not fit if you have the stock four speed, unless you install it on the firewall.
