I've dropped in a 350 and would like to get some gear ratios to match. The differentials, tranny and transfer case are all stock. I've been told that being its the 4x4 I'm stuck with the stock tranny which would leave my only option being to change the ratios in the differentials which is possible since the K10 uses generic Dyna units. But being the 66 K10 runs a divorced transfer case I'm wondering why I couldn't use a newer 5 speed off a C10?

In fact you have more flexiblity than you would with a modern 4x4. In addition, there are plenty of guys who have gone to a modern tranny/t-case setup. | | |

I got two pick-n-pulls within 60 miles so I'm going to start doing some shopping. I'll keep the update to a married tranny/xfer case if I can't service the old Rockwell.
