I hear it should be easy for a USA citizen, the other way around would interest me too. I have heard that that's a crime, with lots of red-tape. So try try to scare me with your horor stories of 14 hours at the border | | | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,682 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,682 | I think so long as you call them ahead of time and provide the proper/required documentation prior to showing up at the border, its no problem.
I've never done it myself, but i've sold several vehicles to Canadians.. many had no more documentation than a hand written bill of sale, and right thru the border they went.
Might be different if you're hauling brand new Farraris or BMW's or something.. but old cars & trucks (30+ year old ones, anyway) don't seem to be much of a problem at all.. at least not going UP anyway.
Coming from Canada down might be more of a hassle.
an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.

Call ahead to the customs Before you show up to make sure you have all the proper ducoments. I've done about half a dozen and it was no problem for me.
