old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 117 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 117 | Well, We went down and dug about a foot and a half of mud away from the truck and layed down some sand and gravel... Looks like I will be picking up the truck in the next few weeks! I tried posting pics previously, but it didn't work for some reason... I'll try again: http://www.oldsub.com/images/2006/02/MrDanB/truckfront.JPG http://www.oldsub.com/images/2006/02/MrDanB/truckside.JPG Thanks to Steve (old sub) for the hosting. I am looking forward to fixing up this old bolt and getting it back on the road!! Dano

an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.

The truck is sitting on dirt which turned to soupy mud all around it. The guy who owns the truck is a friend of the family and he will hold it until he deems he's ready to move it. He also stated that he has the windshield, grille, bumpers, and some extras that he will just throw in for it. I see in the catalogs that 57 grilles are almost non existent for some reason? They sure look like the vette grille of that year... Anyway, it needs lots of love and hard work, but I can make it happen... Dano

So, are you going to drive it 'down' here in the summer? As I said before, your Camaro looks great . If you do half as nice a job on this one, it'll sure be a looker Sab | | | | | Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 531 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 531 | Is that a 56 or 7 Dan? Guess my Brother in law is talkin' smack... It IS a '57, 3100 step side small window. It has the original 283 and hubcaps from the factory. not sure what to do with the engine yet. either rebuild it or stuff something big in it... Getting a flat bed to get it home isn't the problem. It's having the owner move a bunch of crap away from in front of it and the ground drying up. I'll have it home in the next few weeks. I saw in the local paper a Napco truck for 1500 up in Bellingham, Wa. I LOVE the looks of those, but enough projects going on now as it is... I'll post additional pics as I get it home and start tearing it apart. Dan

265's had no built-in oil filter

I will have to check for the oil filter when I get it to my place. Actually, I have about 10,000 questions about the truck.lol I will have many late nights researching stuff in past threads. Even though I don't have it home yet, I keep looking at old trucks going down the road and try to guess what year they are. I saw an Apache on the freeway today, but didn't look as old as a 57. It had a "20" on the fender with some other script, but couldn't tell... Dano
