Also, I see a lot of "carb rebuilding kits." Am I going into this blind with one of these kits or are they very well prepared? Last, if anyone in the DFW area knows where a good, cheap, reliable place is to have this done, let me know, thanks

When I was turning wrenches I could throw a kit in a Q-jet in an hour. Since then I have learned that there's a lot that I wasn't doing. It's now an all day job for me.

My response was in relation to a Rochester 1bbl. If you've got a Q-Jet, you're not improving anything by putting an Edelbrock on. A rebuilt 750 will actually get better mileage than a new 600 Edelbrock!

All he did is put a carb kit in it and clean it up of course. What's this "core charge" your talking about? I guess there's a big difference in price from NE Wis. to SoCal.
