Also, has anyone seen the rear fenders attached with clutch head screws? My sources and I are leaning toward the use of clutch head.

As you'll see, with any question you're likely to get several differing opinions. Possibly, cause they're so many differing options.
I've always been under the impression the 36-46 body styles used oval bumper bolts. My experience with the ones I'm familiar with seeing indicate the same.
I just did a quick search of Chev's of the 40's catalog. They're indicating for a 37, an oval headed bolt with either a standard or Marstin nut was used as standard equipment.

I believe them to be original as the truck had sat for about 40 years before I bought it. They had about the same amount of rust as everything else on the truck. I think the rear fender bolts are clutch head. I've seen a few 37's at shows and they had clutch head bolts. I'm using the oval bolts for the bumper & clutch head bolts for the rear fenders.
