I have a 1966 chevy fleetside
and I put in a new heater core
and still can't get any heat

On my '54 (on which I have bypassed the heater due to a leaking core) the air is either diverted to the defroster or to the cab. Both doors were frozen shut. They both should be so hot you cannot hold onto them very long. If one is cold there is a resriction. If they are both hot you have an air flow problem like tlorber describes.

My doors were frozen up pretty good. I put some WD40 on them and the cable to get it free and the doors work fine, also check to ensure the cable isn't bent up like mine was, kinks are a bummer.
