This was in my local paper..

1938 Diamond T 3/4 ton flatbed truck, excellent condition, Colorado title. $1,500.

I called about it this morning just to get some more info, and he told me he sold it yesterday, so I removed the phone number.

Last Diamond T I saw for sale around here was a 1951 COE. It was complete, but had rust holes in the top of the cab and everything was stuck. It sold for $4000. I'd like to have a COE, but people around here see dollar signs when they have something like that.

Apparently that truck was in rust free, drive it up on the trailer condition. Stuff dosen't rust up too much in the higher altitude, low humidity, minimal (if any) road salt near desert conditions here.

The trucks that you do find that have rot are normally the ones that were driven up untill the late 80's.. but for most of the trucks I find, they were parked 30 or more years ago and have just sat.. or spent the vast majority of their time working on a farm.

I guess that ad was in the paper for about a week.. I used to check the paper daily, but got busy with other stuff and didn't check it for awhile. $1500 and it took the guy a week to sell it at that price!

Start loading up on those rust free Diamond T's and we'll bring em south and sell em in Moultrie, Ga this fall for 5 times that.

Behind me in the car corral was a 29 dodge flat black "ratrod" pickup with no drivetrain, no interior, no pedals, drum brakes not hooked up and fiberglass fenders that some fool had to have for $9500.

Only to be surpassed by the 69 Nova with a 427 and a fourspeed next to me that was originally a 6 cylinder car with nonpower 4 wheel drums and the original 3 on the tree column still in it looking like a bullet wound in the steering column that sold for $20,000.

No, I am not kidding.

Next time I need (read want) another truck I'm going to visit Fumblin or rustyoldrelics (for that sweet 33 1.5 ton he put in the swapmeet)!

There's a 37 or so 1.5 ton that you can drive right onto the trailer just down the road from me for $500.. put in a seat, windshield glass, bleed the brakes, and drive it home!
