I only assume you have a V8. I also assume you have a blown head gasket or a broken head on that side and what you see is coolant. check your radiator level.

Sounds like a gasket or a crack to me to. Check your oil as well some times the coolant go to the pan. and check your spark plugs for moister on the side thats blowing white.

Does it do this all the time or just when it's cold out side. If just dose this when it's cold could be the heat riser doing it's job. It should stop when the motor comes up to full temp.

I am going to agree with the head gasket guys. WHite smoke does mean water and the fact that it is coming out of one side makes it even more suspicous. I would check the oil for coolant and check the coolant level. I hope that you get it figured out with a minumum of effort and worry.

If it is white and has a sweet smell, it is coolant. You should be losing water from the system if so. Also check for water in the oil or oil in the radiator. It will appear milk like. The best way to find out is have your system pressure tested and also check the engine compression. Good luck resolving the problem.

A quick way to check if you have a gasket problem is to pull the plugs on the right side of the engine if you have water on the plugs you have a leak somewhere, while you have the plugs out have someone crank the engine(pull the coil wire first) if there water in a cylinder it will come out fast(be sure to wear eye protection). Coolant in the oil is bad for the bearins.

long time ago but i had the same problems with a 283 and unfortunately it was a crack in the head on that side but i hope for your sake it is just a gasket.

White smoke is water.
Blue smoke is oil.
Black smoke is gas.
