Anyone know where to get or if they have one they don't need. I am looking for the door handle that has lock in the handle. My doors do not have have the hole for the lock and I would love to keep it that way but be able to lock it I need to find a door handle with a lock in it. I have been told they don't even reproduce them and I would have to get lucky and find one. All help would be great.
On a side note I went by the body shop today and my cab is looking really good and should be coming home soon. Yeah!!!!

Brian - You must have an early 46. Most 46s don't have the lock in the door handle. You might try looking for 41 door handles. You'll have to get a used one because they are not reproduced. Put an add in the swap meet area I'm sure someone will be able to help out. Don't give up they are out there.

I have a door handle off a '39 GMC that has a lock in the handle.. I was gunna use it on my '46 1/2 ton passenger side since it's missing all together.. I don't have a key for it, tho.

Your 46 only has a lock for the cab under the right door handle. Inside is a turn button for the left door.

Every 46 i've ever seen had the lock in the door.. i've seen some early '41's with a lock in the handle, tho.. maybe somebody in the past put earlier doors on it?

Another question might be.. does the door have a locking mechinesim in it at all?

I don't know for sure.. but was a door lock a standard stock thing, or could it have been an option?

Little horse,
I'm not sure this is what you are looking for but it says it's NOS. I found this while surfing EBAY.

On my '46 Panel I don't have any openings for locks either. In side the door there is a shaft for a inner lock knob but nothing on the outside at all.

Little Horse, the 41 had the lock in the handle on the passenger side door and the 46 has the lock cylinder in the door below the handle. Sounds like you have a 41 passanger door on your 46, no matter they are the same. Are you sure it is a 46 and not a 41?? Sometimes the info on the title and body plates have either been changed or a diffrent title was used. Never the less. No repo locking handles being sold right now that I know of. Might have a good - fair used one, would need rechroming but I don't think that I have a key but those are avil from various vendors. Let me know if you are interested and I will check to see what I have.

Bhodgeswbmi2,

I think you'll find you need new springs to correct those sagging door handles. They're available through most of the old truck parts houses.

I am leaning towards changing from the stock latch to a small bear claw style with lock. Then either add a key somehow or use an actuator and remote entry system.

Have you seen the locks for suicide doors? The have a door lock actuator that sends a metal rod through the door and frame like a deadbolt. It could also be tied into a remote entry system. Or you could use a hidden switch like the door poppers.

Truckwhisperer,
Thanks for the heads up. I am specifically looking for a handle with the lock in it. I am going to keep on looking.
