I found this 38 Chevy long box just a mile from where I live. It's been sittin' there for many years in a guys heated shop and I never knew it was there. I live right on the Canada/US border. There's a little town on each side.

So I was over on the US side checking my mail and I saw a bulletin advertising this truck for sale.

I paid $3000.00 for it. So I don't know if that is too much or not. The truck is in awesome shape, the interior is complete and intact. The original wood is still in the box. I forgot to check how many miles were on it. I don't really know much about this style truck.

The engine picture was lightened up so you can see it better, thanks to Arnswine.

It was an older gentleman who owned it. It was kinda sad to see that he was selling off some of his collection. He also had a 46 in good shape too. He had just sold that one as well.

When I get it home I'll try and get some pictures into the Gallery.

Hope you didn't have to pay more than $500 for that beat up old truck. Seriously, thats as good as it gets. I do not think I would even want to restore it. She is a beauty as is.

I'm not as experienced about old trucks as most of you guys, but, from looking at the pictures, I would have to say that someone(s) took very good care of this one.

Hey, she's "68 years old"!!!

That is a beautiful truck. In fact, I think it looks better than mine, even after 10 years of puttering! Enjoy.

I don't remeber what kind of book that was. To excited about the truck. The battery is shot in it He says he'll going to by a new one for me and then I'm going to drive it home. That will be the first project I've ever gotten to do that with. Ussually I've got pull them, drag them, tow them home.

I didn't realize that I stuck gold. Thanks guys for pointing it out.

Man, you scored well on that!!! I'd keep it like she is, it's not that often you find an original truck in that condition...restoration would kill its' character! Enjoy as is!

I'll give you an extra thousand for it!

From the look of his garage(not to mention the truck), I would say that man takes good care of his things.

Great looking truck,... This would be considered a "SURVIVOR". Please leave it just like it is, cosmetically. I would just take care of engine and chassis issues, but I wouldn't touch the body. From the "GW" rating painted on the side and the length of the bed I would say its a 3/4ton. It would be interesting to see more pictures. You just don't get a chance to see an untouched example like this very often. Look at the bed apron just aft of the cab. This usually get painted the body color on a restoration. its actually black like the running boards and fenders. I love it. I could look at a truck like this all day. Your wife needs to know how good a deal you got! I say $10,000.

That's a swell old truck! My Dad's first pickup back in the '50s was a '38, and not as nice as this one. It sure would be nice to find one as nice as yours. Congratulations!!
