Are the grills in the 1940 GMC trucks interchangable?

For instance, would the grill out of a 2 ton 1940 truck fit in a 1940 1/2 ton?

The grills are the same. Are you going to get that 40 GMC ?

Fortunately, I don't need any grill parts. But this sure is good information to know. 1940 GMC info is pretty scarce.

Theres a guy I met up with thru some eBay auctions asking about it.. he said if it would fit his 1/2 ton, he'd buy the truck and give it to me if i'd ship him the grill.

Not that I need another 2 ton truck sitting in the lawn, but my only investment would be in paying to get it hauled to the house, time to remove the grill, and whatever it costs to ship it to the guy.. plus i'd have some extra parts to maybe convince my better judgement into putting together a 1/2 ton on an s10 frame.

I don't pay real close attention to the farm auctions, mostly because i'm not really looking for parts now that I have my door hardware and windshield frame off the '39 cab.. and I don't really have a bunch of money to collect more projects!

The '46 1/2 ton is sitting beside the house with 6 full 55 gallon drums of corn in the bed (thats what I burn in the pellet stove now.. works great!) so she isn't seeing alot of action lately.. and i'm talking with a local guy now to see about having him do the t5 conversion on it.. the trip to Sidney this summer will go a whole lot smoother if I can go at least 55!

I'm about fed up with that darn torque tube deal. My makeshift repair with parts from Dakota come apart on me (could dumping the clutch with a way more than full load of corn on the back helped? No.)

Looks like they have a '49 Dodge.. i wonder if the front nose piece on the '49 Dodge is the same as that '52 nose I need to replace??

That's the one. I would really like to make it up for it, but darn-it, I gotta work.

I'd sure like to see those Art Deco trucks and see if they'd be worth hauling out of there.

Let me know what I missed, if you end up going. Worse yet, go, take the digital camera, and make me sick seeing what I missed out on.

By the way, I'm no Dodge man, but I think they were all pretty close up to about 54 or 55, so it very well could work.

Well I doubt i'll make it.. 60 miles is a long way to drag a big truck home.. especially if you don't really need one.

The guy interested in buying the truck for the grill understandably wants me to go over and measure the grill and take pictures.. not something I feel real comfortable doing since i've already been over there to look at it once, trying hard not to be all that interested in the grill in the first place.. god knows if I go over there and make a big stink about the grill he's gunna do some looking and figure out the grill is worth a good chunk of change and then jack up the price before I get back over there with the cash.

At least I know what *I'D* think if some cornball came over and started measuring and taking pictures of something I had for sale.. especially a specific part that happens to be the nicest part of the truck!

I might just have to go over there and buy the darn thing and part it out on eBay.. i'd feell alot better about that if I had some real idea that the parts were going to be worth my effort and expense to drag the thing home.

Compound that with the guy hearing that the 2 ton truck used a different grill than the 1.5 tons.. if thats the case, I suspect the differences in the 2 ton GMC are greater than the differences between a 1.5 and 2 ton Chevy.

What I need is to get in contact with a real GMC guru.

Know anybody?
