#19919 11/20/2002 5:50 PM | Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 96 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 96 | So I'm about to start building my 235. However, the ol' truck is outside in the yard, covered(thankfully), but mostly inaccessably.
My question is this:
if I build my engine now, and it winds up sitting for a few months until the snow finally melts (probably mid august....tee hee hee), will there be any problems? In other words, would it be bad to put it all together, and not run it for months. Is there any chance anything might sieze, or could the assembly lube drip off? Are there any extra precautions I could take to prevent problems?
I've got the bug (like I'm sure so many of you have), and I'm super anxious to build start putting things together...but should I be patient and wait until I can run it right away? | | |

I guess if I could keep it in a heated space with low humidity, then maybe. But if not, I'd be afraid of condensation problems. Besides, it would drive me nuts to have to look at every day for months, knowing I can't try it out.

#19921 11/22/2002 8:15 AM | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 1,897 Member | | Member Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 1,897 | Be patient and wait  do a lot more research,clean every piece/part and label it and store it until spring/summer is getting near.Patiently put the engine together with loving care. You have heard the term measure twice cut once  You will have no problem if it gets done and sits for a few weeks(3 or less).For that matter, you CAN hook up enough stuff to be able to fire it up BUT I would wait untill you can have the cooling system hooked up and full of antifreeze so you can warm it up to operating temp and give it a proper break-in for the cam and lifters.
There is enough good in the worst of us and enough bad in the best of us that it does not behoove any of us to criticize the rest of us.
