The trailer most likely could have handled an additional half a ton or so, but there are a lot of other things to consider when determining what is safe, and what is not. Tires, load distribution, and the weight and wheel base of the tow vehicle are all equally important.

Wasn't fun. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 112 Member | | Member Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 112 | hauled an 81 1/2ton 4x4 12inches of lift and 44's on my little 16ft'er,weight was'nt an issue but but size and trackwidth was a major ordeal,loaded sidelling real bad with tire hang'n way off pass side and super high center of gravity and uneven weight dist.this was the WORST haul I have ever done,15 miles with no problems other than fast passing vehicles(I only drove about 40)think'n back on it that was probably the most stupid haul I have done,glad I'm a responsible adult now,oh!gotta go cartoons are on!!!

Once from Miami, OK to St. Louis - that was a rather wild ride. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,832 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,832 | When I was younger and dumber I used to haul Cadillacs, Buicks, Lincolns, you name it on a regular flatbed car trailer behind a Luv with a 400 sbc in it. Praise be that I never hurt myself or worse, someone else. It did teach me that almost any vehicle will PULL a trailer but you need the right one to stop it. Now it's nothing but a 3/4T (or bigger) with disc AND trailer brakes. We all learn--I hope.
