can anyone help me locate the 4 clips that help the emblem stick to the hood i'm not having any luck

Don't know if this is what they used originally, but I went to The Home Depot and bought 4 speed nuts. They simply screw onto the mounting studs inside the hood and hold the emblem in place fine.

mine had some kinda metal clip rivided to the hood that emblem snapped on i called cd and they want to sell me the emblem to get the clips
i can't comperhend what ya got in mind ?

Take the emblem to the hardware store and ax for speed clips or push nuts. I am sure they'll have what you need. If you really want to get high tech, you could tread them and use a nut with a washer. (Read overkill) Auto parts houses often have them as well but they are usually bubble packed and a bit of a pain.

If you can't find what you need elsewhere, any auto body supply shop should be able to provide the push nuts, which is what I think was probably used when the truck was new. Allen

The proper term for them is Tinnerman clip.

to use what ya fellers have in mind i would have to drill holes threw my emblem for screws etc.there are no post or screws mounted on the emblem itself. it had clips that caught the emblems edges where it rolled back.

Don't do it...don't drill those stinking holes!

The emblem had four little brackets slid into the back and spot welded with dinky welds. These brackets historically rust/rot off. You CAN make new ones yourself and silver solder them on.

I did it and it worked great. The option is to get a new emblem. My rig was a big bolt, so this item was scarce. The ones for smaller rigs are around in repro and good used.

hi mate,
it's a shame you don't live in the same part of the world as me, as i have spare clips. Someone removed the badge off my truck without removing the clips. So when i got my new badge it had new clips. All they are is a strip of tin with a nut welded in the middle.
And guys, what's the meaning of buying American quality parts with a Made in China sticker. I was most dissapointed.

Just for my own satisfaction I would like to get clear on this fastener thing. As I mentioned earlier, my rig is a '54 so maybe I'm OTL on this.

The Chev's of the 40's book shows front hood emblems for years '47-'53..that would include your '52. These items are $70 clams each.

If these items are the same as mine, they are stamped stainless with four metal brackets spotwelded under the lip on the back.Each bracket has one screw permanently attached that goes through the hood and is secured with a nut.

The brackets are not just stuck in... they are not a separate part..I don't think you will find them unless they are attached to a emblem.

Therein lies the problem Brendon. Too many Americans today are only concerned about the price they pay and don't see value in keeping American's working. If people would pay a little extra to buy American made products the manufacturers would keep the work here. As it is a manufacturer in the US paying a wage that will support a family here can't compete price wise with a Chinese company that pays a tiny fraction of that wage. When buyers demand cheap at all cost it's only natural that the more expensive labor is eliminated. When the US looses the ability to manufacture anything and is dependent on other countries to supply all necessary products we will be at their mercy. I hope the Aussy buyers are smarter.

Only difference is Mine has clutch head screws not studs and nuts
But youre right about the very tiny spot welds on the bottom edge

I agree with you..but! It seems like lots of companies value the bottom line more than the quality of their product..plus they could care less about the consumer or what he wants.

The world is going a million miles a hour these days. It seems like all honorable values are gone and only the plastic remain. Buy it, use it and throw it away. Mr. Manufacturer is giving us just what we want, junk!

I have two teenage sons. The world is new and right to them..to me it's fricken nuts. When I was a kid the world was just as it should be..to my folks, it was fricken nuts. Times change and we change with them or we don't..hey, this isn't truck talk, sorry.
