Hy Adramelech, Welcome, what transmission are we talking about, standard of some kind or automatic? If its a standard it's probably going to the backup light switch, but that's usually two wires if it's an auto it could be for your kickdown solenoid. Do the lights at the back of the truck work?

If this is a turbo hydramatic 400, that wire is used for the down shift control. A turbo 400 has the vacuum modulator on the passenger side pointing to the side, in the center of the trans body. A turbo 350 has the modulator on the passenger side on the rear of the case.

Hy again Adramelech, it sounds like you have a turbo 400, and this wire powers up a downshift solenoid, the other end of the wire goes to a switch under the dash which closes when you push the accelerator pedal to the floor. Hope this helps.

Weimar is on U.S. Highway 90 and Interstate Highway 10, eighty-seven miles west of Houston in western Colorado County.
