Hey TRUCKMAN, how's it going? You might want to surf over to chevytrucks.org and look in their tech section...they have a nice chart of axle widths listed. If you have a 1/2 ton AD, the usual best bet is a '70-'81 Camaro/Firebird. Not sure about 3/4 ton.

Best of luck.

3/4 ton's a problem, if that's what you have. The 2nd series and on are 3-1/2" wider than the first series. Using later wheels with a deeper setback makes up for most of this. I'm wanting to say the first series has 56-1/2" on the 3/4 ton, but it's been a long day at work.

A good rearend to use for 1/2 tons are the 60..66 or 67..7? truck rearends as they retain the 6 lugs and are only fractions of an inch wider and have a much broader range of available gear ratios.

I have a 69 rear with 3.08 posi and a 62 with a 3.73 posi - you will have to grind / torch off the trailing link suspension brackets and add spring perches - but E-Brake cable and brake line connections are pretty much identical.
