I have 3 "3600" hood emblems that came with the truck when I bought it. They all need to be refinished. They are badly pitted, surface rust, etc. Does anyone know how to do this? Or can you recomend someone who does it?

Thanks,
Steve

It would be far more cost effective if you could find nice ones. I too am having a hard time finding the 3600 emblems. Even if you can't find perfect ones, at least get some that aren't pitted- re chroming is way expensive and if they have to fill and grind the pits out it's even more. Look in Hemmings Motor News for reputable chromers.

I found a nice set of 3600 emblems on Ebay for $12. They look almost perfect.
Of course I peruse Ebay all the time looking for parts, and I keep a list of the hard to find pieces I need. It took a couple of months before a decent set showed up on Ebay, but as they say "Patience is a virtue", and the price was worth the wait.

Steve,

I'm share the opinion of 50-3600-Guy. I have yet to try and find anything for my trucks that won't at some point pop up on E-Bay.

You do have to be diligent, and patient. With enough of either, you'll find what you want, and generally at a price you can live with.

I don't know about the 3600 emblems, as all of mine are 1/2 tons, but $12-$14 seems to be about the going rate for half decent emblems on E-Bay.

They are out there.

Steve,

Have you given Bowtie Bits a call. They usually have some pretty interesting used items, although they probably won't be in the E-bay price range. A phone call to Jeff might be worth it.

I will try calling Bowtie Bits - you never know. I have been watching e-Bay for a while, but it is rare that anything, let alone emblems, for a '54 3600 shows up. I'll just keep watching & waiting.

Thanks for the input!

Cliff I took the 3200 emblems off of a 59, primed them pretty good/thick after wire wheel/brush, just bought some high$ chrome paint & then clear coated mine. You can't tell they've ever been pitted & even though they're painted it kinda gives them that nostalgic painted on emblem look which in my opinion is pretty nice & inexpensive. To each their own so you may or may not want to go this route. If you do then show us how they turned out please?
