hi if you have a 1941-46 chevy pickup 1/2 ton and you have the frame striped down if it is at all possible for someone to get me good detailed drawings and dimensions for the frame i would appreitate it. i have a 3/4 ton frame, but it was scabed togeather by the previous owner. it ok ive fixed it but i have a spare cab and some sheet metal left over and i plan to make a nice 1/2 ton street rod pickup with. ill use fiberglass fenders and an ls1 to power it. since i dont have a 1/2 ton frame i was just going to build my own frame, i plan to airbag all around. if your in california and you have a striped down frame that would be better i could come down and get the dimensions myself. i would take the dimensions off the 3/4 ton and just shorten the wheel base but the cab front end are on it so thats kind of out of the question.

Cal is a large place, where in California are you located?? I have several 41-46 1/2 ton frames that you could measure if you like.

im in central valley. that would be quite some drive. if i attend the next pomona swap meet there is a possibility of going down there. worst case senario is i cant. if you have extra are you interested in selling one. that way i only have to clip the front end.also i believe you were interested in a spare tire carrier or some front and rear suspension. if so maybe we could work something out.
thanks tim

Man, if you're just going to rod it anyway, why bother getting an original frame that you'll just have to hack up anyway?

'41 thru '46 trucks have been put on everything from old Cutlass frames to long bed s10's.

If you've got the skills to splice in a new front end, sticking that body on a later model vehicle frame should be a piece of cake!

my intentions were to build my own frame but without knowing how long the frame is on that truck the width of the frame which i am sure is the same as a 3/4 ton. i just really dont have acces to the 3/4 ton frame since the cab is back on it. what s10 frame would i use for the 1/2 to pickup. ive heard extended cab, long beds, and reg cab. i thought that the exteded cab and long beds worked good for 3/4 tons not 1/2 tons. fumblin what did you use on your 46

Why can't you just get your measuremnts from underneath? Or am I mis-understanding the question?

A long bed s10 seems to be the donor frame of choice for most of the Deco and AD trucks i've seen.. there's a dude that makes a "kit" to slap an AD body on them.. AD Engineering is what his outfit is called.

Looks like just a bunch of riser deals that bolt or weld to the frame and match up with the holes on the body. Once you get your body to a place you can measure the mounting holes, seems like it wouldn't be hard to fab those "riser" pieces yourself.
