That 50 chevy 3600 pickup that I have been talking about has a flatbed on it now with a wrecker/winch deal on it. I was discouraged that a new bed was $3000 so I have decided to go with the flatbed. Any ideas how it might look?

That price tag would certainly discourage me too. I think if you searched a bit, you could find a used one for MUCH less. Don't forget that the "wrecker/winch" deal has value to someone. You could sell what you have and apply that money to a used bed.

If you are set on a flatbed, here is a site that sells stamped, formed pieces. I bought all the pieces and assembled my own flatbed for my 4400 truck. You can even order "round" corners to give the bed that authentic look. The parts are surprisingly reasonable, but shipping to you from California might make the cost prohibitive.

I am not sure what you had in mind, but I think a flatbed requires duals to make it look proper.

I already have the flatbed on it. I just need to cut the pieces for the wrecker off and put on a floor as the old one is rotted out wood

its a homemade wrecker...the previous owner calls it a boom truck. I am for sure going to restore it now...I am going with a flatbed but I dunno about the engine..It has a 4 speed tranny with a GMC inline six engine. and I plan on selling the 54 2 ton with a chevy v8 engine.
