Hello, I have a 46 1/2 ton that's partially restored but missing the bed, running boards, basically a lot of stuff behind the cab. Anyone here local to me? I'd like to take a look at your truck, restored or not. I'm in Yorba Linda, CA.

Also if you have a lot of extra time and don't mind working on someone else's project, I'd love to find someone who can help me finish this thing grin

BTW this truck is all stock, original 216, 4-speed no synchros frown

What kind of help do you need??

I don't have ( and never did have ) a truck from your era. Before and after though.

I think I know where one sits, like yours, in Pomona.

David:

I'm in Riverside, not too far away. My truck has been finished since about April. You are welcome to take a look anytime. Send me an email we'll see if we can hook up.

DKhoe,

I'm not even close, but I have a (pretty much) stock 46 1/2 ton.

Would be glad to send you pictures of anything that might help you out.

You can e-mail me directly, through my profile.

Thanks for the responses... here's some more info on the truck. To finish the restoration, it will need a bed (to be purchased) and running boards (still need passenger side). Will need a hand with those jobs because I may not be able to figure out how things are supposed to go together. Well, that's when it would be handy to go see one locally (George, I just sent you a message).

Other than assembly, the truck though running has a few basic issues that need sorting out.
1) It's hard to start, usually needs a shot of starting fluid.
2) The engine is really noisy, a lot of clicking, clacking and screeching, but I'm not sure if these noises are normal. Anyhow, it's the opposite of "purrs like a kitten".
3) Noisy drive train, gear whine, gear grinding (non-synchro?), grabby clutch, etc. Not enjoyable to drive at all.

I can't believe when new these trucks drive like this, unless this one was put together wrong by the PO or has a lot of worn-out parts. I don't really want to rod it, as I like it mostly stock. Needs an on-site diagnosis?
