Anyone know of a good A/C system for a 52'. Recently I have been looking at heat/cool/defost units from Vintage Air and Classic Auto Air. I don't want to go spendin one grand on an A/C system when I'm not sure how well it performs. I don't really need a underdash vent system that fits the stock contour of the dash because I'm going to make my own underdash panel. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I put the vintage-air heat-cool-defrost unit in my 70. I,m not real pleased with it. If you use the air one day & the next day turn on the heat it fogs everything up. You better have a towel handy because you are blind. One of the controls broke before I got done installing it. They sent a new part but it set the project back a few days.

I used a Old Air system in my 53 and it seems to work good. The problem is when I get on the highway it seems to fade a bit due to the truck leaks so much air. I think if you want to get any system to work properly the truck needs to be insulated and some what air tight.

and that would be true. another factor is cleaning the evaporator coils by at least blowing them out. lots of aftermarket suppliers make weatherstrip for bolts. if you insulate the inside of the doors make sure you don't trap moisture in the bottom of the doors. i don't think you will like the result if you don't.
