I have a 46 1/2 ton with IFS without the power steering and mine works just fine. Like chuckthetruck said it does take a little muscle but not like the old steering.

About an hour of that a day, and steering those little half ton wheels on pavement will be a piece of cake!
an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.
