I know this may not be the place to put this comment, but I also do not think it will hurt either. I know it's all about families where /how ever we come together.
Did we have any bolters in the effected areas. Maybe at the up coming Riverside gathering re~union rally in Kansas City, we could put out a collection jar and pass that on to the area Red Cross or a fire department in the effected area. Those folks need all the help, clothing, basics and prayers we can give them.

Good idea and am putting it to our local club President for consideration also.

I am sure we have bolters there that may have been hit,, have not heard from any,, that might take a while so I just mailed a check to the American Red Cross for the time being,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Fred

Yes, Red Cross is an excellent group to send a donation to right about now.

Several of our Gulf Coast Stovebolters have checked in and are okay. Several others have not (Jake Groby -- aka Modelman -- among them) and they weigh heavilly on my mind tonight -- please keep all of them, as well as all the folks struggling through a very trying and tragic time, in your thoughts and prayers.

HELLO EVERYONE! Finally got my power restored a few days ago and just wanted to check in here now that I am able to get online.

Man, I hope we never have another storm like Katrina. It has been pretty rough around here but we were fortunate compared to the folks on the Miss. and Loisiana coasts.

Mainly we were inconvienced with no electrical service, no water, ice in short supply, fuel in short supply, and very little propane or charcoal to cook with.

There are trees and power lines down everywhere. Lots of homes were damaged by the storm, most by fallen trees.

No one around here was hurt during the hurricane but I have heard of a lineman that was killed while working to restore power in this area, not sure if it is actually true. Man, I hope it isn't. Everyone here appreciates the long hours and hard work of all of the work crews involved in restoring our services and it would be heartbreaking to know that someone lost his/her life in an effort to make our lives more pleasant.

While most people here had to (and a lot still are) deal with no electric service, no water, long lines at the gas pumps, grocery stores, etc., at least we still have our homes. There are countless thousands that are not so fortunate and my heart goes out to them.

It will be a long time before things are back to some sense of normalcy for a lot of people but I have complete faith that we as Americans will overcome this terrible event.

God bless those that are suffering at this time and make them stronger as a result.

It WILL happen again and much sooner than anybody would believe.

I have a friend down there who lives on Fig Street. She believes that she's flooded out but was smart enough to GET THE HELL OUT OF TOWN. lol.... I don't understand how anybody could see Katrina coming and decide to tough it out in a city below sea level.
