Well, sortof...

I was driving home from work and needed to stop for gas (ouch). As I was pulling in the station, I spotted a Stovebolt... turned out it was a '39 GMC - white paint and generally stock appearing. Real nice ride, and super-nice owner/driver. You gotta love another car/truck guy who takes a look at your ride, with the wood missing in the bed, unfinished interior, and says "man, it's perfect just the way it is".

He was from Myrtle Beach, SC, and was swinging through Raleigh to pick up his son (an NC State student), then the two of em were headed north to the NSRA event in Richmond, VA. How cool is that?

There was another guy there in a late-30's/40-something Chevy coupe, but to be honest, I was too busy checking out the '39 from MB. Hehe. They invited me and the '53 to fall in with their mini power-tour, but I already had a full weekend planned . Plus, I still haven't done anything to "fix" my top speed of 55 mph. Those guys were running <cough> 350s <cough>, but don't hold that against em... the truck and the car looked like they had logged their share of miles on the road and not a trailer.

Talk about a great way to start the weekend! Just wish I would have had a camera with me. I didn't think to ask if they were on the Stovebolt Page, but a quick search of the gallery didn't find the '39. Anyone from MB recognize the truck from my description?

yea i love when someone tells me that my truck looks good even though it looks rugged. I see alot of different kind of classics here. But i love old chevy pickups the best! smile Its cool when there is a 60-66 chevy next to my 64 on the road.
