For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 47 Member | | Member Joined: May 2001 Posts: 47 | Ihave an engine with a rebuild tag on it that says Automotive Engine (or engineering) Stock #90804. I have no idea how old this engine is or where it came from. Does any of you know of this rebuild company? Still in existence??? Engine # is AD154047 if anyone can decipher that for me. I suspect its a 1947 engine? Can anyone help? Don't know about the rebuilding company.

Owner is John Wolf and he has rebuilt many old engines. Don't know if this is the same Automotive Engineering Co., but you could give him a call and find out easy enough. Numbers I have for him are:(319)848-4900 and (319)848-4912. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 197 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 197 | I remember seeing/hearing a lot of TV & radio ads for a company called "Automotive Engineering" in the S.F. Bay Area when I was a kid back in the '70's. The jingle went "Automotive Engineering pleases thousands, why not you?" Now the obvious first question is why in the heck can I remember something as stupid and obscure as that but if my wife give me a list of 3 things to get at the grocery store I can guarantee you I'll forget at least one of the things. I can't help how my brain works (or doesn't). Anyway, Automotive Engineering was a pretty big company back then, maybe even nationwide like an AAMCO or something. I don't know if they're still around but you might try a web search. You never know what might pop up. I'll try to find out some more info for you and let you know.

Anyway, Automotive Engineering was a pretty big company back then, maybe even nationwide like an AAMCO or something. Automotive Engineering was located in the SF Bay area in the late sixties to ? They were one of the first engine remanufactures. They were very popular with us kids, because they were cheap! I don't know if they are still around, they may be under a different name. I don't know if the engine you have is from them or not, but they did place a name plate on every engine they did..........g | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 197 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 197 | Well, like I said, I was a kid then so maybe it was more like in the late 60's. I have no idea whether they were strictly regional to the Bay Area or not. The stock # tag got me thinking that wherever your engine came from it was probably a decent sized outfit. I did a web search but came up with nothing. Sorry.

Bay area as the truck is suppose to have come from California. I know I can count on you guys. Barry, I started to call the guy in Iowa but after I found out the truck came from Ca. it narrowed the search. Thanks again. | | |
