| | | | Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 96 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 96 | i have a 56 chevy 1/2 ton and i am trying to re ove the doors but some of the captive nuts in the hinge pocket seem to have come loose and all they do is twist. i was thinking of mabe drilling a little hole next to the bolts and trying to tack weld the nuts from the out ide but then i wouldn't be able to adjust the door. what would ya'll try fix this. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | it's not fun, but you can get at most of them from the back through the kick panel opening - might hafta take the door off the hinge on the door side, tho those bolt can present worse problems - once the hinge is out you can repair the cage and/or replace the nut - you do need that adjustment, so don't weld them in place - I've got a couple on onea my trucks that're 'uncaged' and just hafta be put on last from the inside - if the pockets are rusty, you can get at the lower ones by coming thru the front of the pocket, then rebuild the pocket  Bill | | |
