Went and bought another one! I've been trying to sell my son's '46 1/2-ton pickup without much success, planning to replace it with a '67-'72 C-10, or even a mid-'70s shortbed. He can't drive yet, so it's not like there's a great deal of urgency to do either. We dropped the Bimmer rag off at the muffler shop to get a new exhaust and an alignment done, and lo and behold, there's a really basic '68 C-10 LWB sitting alongside the shop with a "For Sale" sign in the rear window. It belongs to a guy getting ready to put it in the local auto trader, and he's there getting the picture taken for it. I stroll over and ask about it, and it is really a base truck, no options at all, hardly! It was originally a 283 2-bbl but has a late '70s 305 in it now. Manual everything, no radio, 3 on the tree, cop caps, vinyl seat, dealer add-on rear step bumper with the dealer name embossed on it (a local truck from new!), and that's it! We talk price, I go to drive it (needs a tune-up and a serious detail job all around, paint later!), we talk price a little more. It's been a plumbing truck it's whole life, but the body, bed, and the interior are as nice a can be for a nearly 40-year-old working truck. Solid white, sweet looking bed, nearly zero rust, except in the door sills. Frosted lower w/s glass and a sometimes-working heater. Not a bad beater truck!

The guys' dad bought the truck as the second owner in 1970. The old man died a couple of years ago, and the truck has sat in a carport since. Yeah, I need annother truck, right??? I have the '46, two '71 Dodges (one a parts truck), and the Cummins...

I pick it up tomorrow (Wednesday)!!!

I still have no freakin' idea how to post a pic on this forum. I'll post them to my Webshots page and just link it. Soon.

Patrick.

Check out this Forum FAQ with some step-by-step instructions. See if that will help.

But remember ... post a link rather than the actual picture.

Thanks,
Peg

Changed my mind on the truck...found another one, much better condition, less money, and it's a Dodge!

Still have the '46!!!
