having trouble finding hold down spring kits and adjuster springs for my newly acquired 1962 chevrolet 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive pickup. also need all emergency brake cables. needing to know if i can purchase new replacement parts anywhere or if other ones will work in this application. this truck was abused badly and we are going to try and fully restore it. it is still drivable so we started with the brakes. the springs on the front end were usable, but we are not able to use any of the parts on the rears. have a shop manual coming, but have one more question at this time. is oil supposed to go down the axle tube and oil the bearings in the drums on the rear end? we replaced the leaking rear pinion seal first, took the cover off the rear end, cleaned it out, refilled it, and when we pulled the axles after driving it a bit, no oil was coming down the tubes. either someone had the cover off and put it on wrong, making the fill plug too low (it is round and the holes would line up either way, with the plug to the left or right). hopefully the manual will help us greatly. thanks for your help.

Carquest and Napa can find a lot of hard-to-find parts, if you get a counter person who knows how to do their job.
