Has anyone out there ever seen a factory yellow block in a 58 chevy truck? I have restored cars and trucks for 30 years.I bought a 58 short bed fleetside out of california. The factory 283 is yellow and has always been yellow. No other color was found.when it was boiled for the rebuild,it sill showed that it had been yellow. My builder said he has seen them before usually in trucks. It was made in Los Angles California any others out there?

looks like it\'s possible , but unusual, and not original to your truck - no tellin what models they may have been in, if any

Back then you could special order just about anything, especially if you were a fleet customer. You want 200 trucks with yellow 283s? What color of yellow do you want? And you want the body painted the same color? Yes sir, we can do it!

I've seen one. I had a '56 Chevrolet 5700 series LCF, with a yellow, 265ci. V8. It was all original.

I saw a yellow 283 block at the machine shop I worked in, had been tanked just smal amounts left here & there. The shop owner said they were in trucks late 50s. Brian
