My 66 had a putty knife in the backend. BTW, it has come in handy scraping the 40 yrs of crud off the parts on the underside. grin Oh, I also found 6 cents.

A couple months ago I bought a '50 chevy half ton with a title that ran and drove for 300.00. Already had a Chevy project so I decided to sell it. In the bed with some other parts were 2 pair of Marble glass reflectors that I almost threw in with the truck. Did a check on Ebay and found out they were highly prized items for that final touch on WW2 Power wagons and military vehicles. Got 200.00 bucks on Ebay for them and then sold the truck for 1500.00. Anybody else have anything they want to give me? I guess every dog has his day...

The Kentucky guys will appreciate this -- My prized possession I found in my big '49 (I got it from an old farmer in Mt. Sterling, KY) was an old Ale-Eight-1 bottle ("It Glorifies!").

My '52 3100 was purchased by my grandpa in 1956. They primarlely used it as a farm truck in South Dakota. However in 1965 my dad drove the truck to a school play and on the drive back home the 216 had all it would take and threw a rod. When we pulled the truck out of hibernation (it was parked in the tree belt behind the house)in 1987 we found a piece of construction paper that was the program for the play that my dad attended that night. There were a couple of burlap seed bags with spark plugs and various unidentified parts and the bed was loaded with old tires and whole bunch of old seed bags.

1953 5-window. I found a penny, a head gasket, a starter for a Chrysler product, a hub cap and a box of assorted parts. There were plenty of screws, nuts and bolts. I used the head gasket since someone had put the wrong gasket on and water poured out of it when I put water in it. Ha! The glove box is locked, so I don't know if there is anything in it. I'll have a locksmith make me a key if I ever get it roadworthy. There was a 1966 rear bumper tied to the rear bumper with a set of Christmas tree lights.

Best Wasp killer i've found to date is a big can of Aqua-Net hairspray and a Zippo (a.k.a. blowtorch method)

Either the previous owner was an OB/GYN, or he landed those neat "grill tongs" from the local auction!

Don't forget 1 (one) turkey baster.
Did the speculum & turkey baster come as a kit???

Spiders!

Took a while to kill 'em all too. The truck was too airy to hold the spray in. Ran it in the garage and bombed the whole place. That finally did it.

Also the original wheels, (18 inch split rims) with rubber. Wouldn't fit anymore since the rear axle had been changed. Finally found a guy to give them to.

I bought mine from my Grandpa, so it had typical farmer stuff in it. Of course, it had been sitting for a while, and he had forgotten what was in there. So here goes:

-6 chrome hubcaps
-My Dad's Chainsaw (So THAT'S where that went!)
-a few burlap sacks
-a wooden property stake
-3 cans of brake fluid (2 small ones that were mostly full and one large, industrial sized one that was still brand new)
-1 Dimmer Switch
-1 Blue Streak Voltage Regulator cover full of fence staples
-1 Fuse block (with fuses)
-Miscellaneous hardware

And last, but not least:

-The Brake Pedal Return Spring (which was broken). He was using a bungie cord to get the pedal back down. [snickers]

My 70 C10 still has the original AM radio that still works. Also had the original jack, tire tool, misc. bolts and screws, several 1157 bulbs, lots of dirt in the cab corners, diamond plate steel covering the original bed wood and 5 original hubcaps with the bowtie in the center ( 4 on the truck and 1 on the spare that was mounted on the side spare carrier).

Bought my 49 Sub in Montana. Under the seat was a 1/4 in drive socket set new still in the box and a ball point pen with the inscription "RANGE RIDERS BAR AND LOUNGE downtown Miles City, Mt. Poker, Keno Gambling Machines and Girls in the Lounge." Girls in the Lounge? What do you suppose that means? Wink wink nudge nudge. Weeds

I bought my 59 3800 about 50 miles from home, with a freshly rebuilt 235 in it. On the trip home, my legs started itching. Pulled over to check things out, and found hundreds of FLEAS working their way toward the family jewels! I stopped at the next store and bought 3 cans of Raid! Also bought a pair of swim trunks and bailed out of my jeans!

I found a roll of paper play money in the tube roll of the bed side. All I can think of is that some kid must have rolled it up and stuffed it in his fathers truck to hide it. He (or she) must have either forgotten or couldn't get it out.

There are a lot of $1,000 bills. Anybody got something for sale?

My uncle found a canvas bag in the '68 pick up he bought;thought it was tire chains so he tossed it up into a corner and forgot about it. He got stuck about six years later, turning around on a side road, and decided to chain it up for traction in the mud,and found the "chains" in the bag were really quarters-well over $600.00 worth of 'em. So the previous owner paid him a couple of hundred bucks to take the truck home. not a bad deal!

I found what appears to be an old indian axe head. I pressure washed the inside of my '50. I haven't pulled out the seat yet to see what else is there. The '50 has to wait until the first project is done.

I haven't been on here in a while, but I could not resist this one. You know what it's like when you drive ( or get towed in this case) that old truck home, you start trying to figure out what all those strange noises are? While steering home a '51 GMC 1 1/2 ton last year, I heard a strange buzzing sound coming from under the seat that was a bit erratic. I ignored it for about a mile until the brain kicked in and reminded me of the sound I heard when I picked up rock at my property and discovered the hiding place of one of our local Idaho western rattlesnakes. It was fortunate for me that the rubber around the back window was old, because I went through that little hole head first and into the grain bed. The window was cracked in the middle which must have given fairly easily. I really don't remember going through, but my bloodied forehead attested to my panic. The worst part was sitting helpless in the bed as the truck drifted into the burrow pit and fence dragging my friend and his truck sideways with it. I suppose I should ask someone else next time. Oh, there is now a 30-30 slug hole in the floor where the snake ended his ride.

Think twice the next time you crawl in that old truck!

My '72 C-10 (I bought out of an impound lot) included a free broken bong that looked like it had never been cleaned in the glovebox. Made me think I knew why the darn thing had been impounded. Also came with a nice T-handle driver for 1/4" sockets and a couple screwdrivers. Original intake setup for the 350 in it had been replaced with an Edelbrock performer aluminum intake, a squarebore to spreadbore adapter and a carter afb from a late 60's chrysler 6 banger that was worth a good $130 to some numbers matching nutjob on ebay. I also sold the adapter to a friend who put a Q-jet on his 351W ford motor in a correct craft skinatique and put the intake on a different motor.

My '72 Cheyenne came with the factory book (in good condition too!) a couple screwdrivers, a couple small wrenches, and a lot of bees nests.

In the '46: one old standard screwdriver, lots of mouse crap, remains of a 1980 OKC newspaper, and a generic clearance lens.

In the bed of the '46: The gas tank, a metal bed headboard, a milk crate with a bunch of trailer lenses, cable clamps, and half of a set of jumper cables, along with an old set of mudflaps and a spare wheel.

My '48 had lots of mouse crap and empty 22 cal. shells in the cab. The jack and crank were under the seat along with the chains, and a couple of old screwdrivers. There were a few titles in the glovebox along with a glass container of alka selzer. (Some one knew the troubles ahead.)

The bed had a grain and cattle rack thrown in along with some really bad tires.

In my '40 GMC 1/2 ton I found an old rusty file, a "Ray-o-Vac" D size battery, an oooooold Dentyne gum wrapper, a Pall-Mall cig pack, a bunch o' mouse poop, a bird nest in the area where the wiper controls are, 1/2' of dirt, 3 or 4 wheat pennies, and 2 silver dimes! Oh, I almost forgot. I found Jimmy Hoffa in the glovebox! I'm trying to finance this project with dough I found! Not quite working. I haven't gotten to the '34 yet but I know there's an old quail nest in the engine compartment with 13 eggs in it! Mom's remains are scattered throughout the engine compartment. Should be fun.

In my dumps my dad left to me: When I opened the door to the 1955 chevy-I smelled old spice, cigars, gennesse cream ale beer and oil! What a mixture! Instantly transported me back to when I was a kid where I used to watch Dad working on his trucks and sneaking sips of his beer behind his back (he always knew though!) Greasy rags in a wood crate and a road sign, assorted unknown tools he made. In the 1951 ford I found 2 road signs-I guess he had a thing for road signs! milk create full of oil, rags and assorted motor thingys. No rat poop or birds nests-I feel left out! The smell was the best! I miss him, he would have loved this site.

Found all kinds of stuff in my C20:

Glovebox:

old pencil that read "Bob's Auto Repair",
full can of ether(i wonder what that was for?),
key to the welding machine ignition,
striker for a cutting torch,
pack of flints for the striker,
welding goggles,
notepad paper,
glass fuses and bulbs

there was a gunrack on the back window(left it there, it gets used a lot)

in the bed:

big, old homemade steel toolbox sitting on the pass. side wheel tub and bolted to the bed rails with about 100 ft of oxygen/acetylene hoses inside, two full shield welding helmets, chipping hammers, files, pipe wrenches, etc.

old oxygen bottle, maybe half full?
old propane bottle, dang near full.

Big old Lincoln SAE300 dc shield-arc welding machine with a straight 6 cyl. flathead Hercules gas engine, runs and welds, just needs the manifold put back on.

Found one of the original rims leaning against the wall inside of Grandpaw's shed with an old Goodyear Super Hi-Miler 7.5-16 bias ply sawtooth tread tire mounted on it. Cleand it up and put a new coat of white paint on it and scrubbed the tire and it looks almost new, except the tread is kinda bald.
