The question i have is the cab the same on a 2 ton truck has it is on a pickup of the same year? appreciate any information you may have.

On '47 -'55 GMC's the same cab was used on, 1/2 ton thru 5 ton. Check the cab mounts, the earlier years were different 47/48?. If you have the later year chassis w/ 4 point mounts, then all you have to do is drill some extra holes.
If you can get (or put) the outside gas tank, then you have extra room behind the seat for those extra pack rat- type items.
