hiya folks...

I was just curious what wheels the 60-66 trucks guys have on their rides with the original 6 lug wheel pattern. Aftermarket wheels, wheels off another year chevy truck or car... whatever... I'm merely curious.

Also curious, if you still have drum brakes or disc brakes with your current wheels.

It seems I have 2 wheels that are '65ish and 3 that are 55-59ish.

Anyway... just wondering...

On my '60 I too have the 6 lug wheels and 4 drum brakes. I choose to return the truck stock. It seemed easier that way for a first time restorer.

I might change them leter if I se the need.

I think my 60 parts truck has original/stock wheels. But my 64 driver has some eagle alloy 15 inch rims that the PO put on. (paid as much for the truck as he did for the rims grin )

6 lug rally wheels off a 73-87 4x4 truck. They are the proper battern and backspace and are 8 inches wide.

I have had 6 Lug Rally and Steel 10" wide wheels on my 66. The wheels from 88-up trucks will not fit 60-87 2WD or 4WD Trucks. I already tried that.

6 lug Rallye Wheels with ECE front disc brake conversion. Kind of blah looking to me, but they were on the truck when I bought it.

I just bought some nice chrome steel wheels (15's) with baby moon hub caps from the used bin at Les Schwab tires for my 64 C10. The truck has has the original 6 lug drum brakes (although one drum is 4 lug!). I think they make they really make the truck look sharp even though the rest of it is a rust bucket. I am keeping the 6 lug wheels because I intend to keep this truck as close to stock as possible with a mild 60's/70's performance look - whatever that is. My next trick is for the brakes to work. Until then I must admire my ride while parked!

Woog,

In my opinion nothing looks better than a set of 15x8 grey painted Chevy rally wheels on the 60-66 trucks. Of course you need the stainless trim rings and 255/70R15s make a nice setup.

I have some sort of funky 7 inch wide aluminum centerlines on my truck (the same ones I had when we did the meet back in '03. I have two additional sets of wheels, both are 15x8 6 lug rallys. One set I'm going to have blasted and painted and thrown on the truck - the other set you're more than welcome if you're willing to drive to Douglasville to pick up.

They will need blasting and painted. wink

I like Ralley wheels also, burb wheel these have a 3inch stainless trim ring. I became a believer in them working at a tire store years ago. They are tough, cheap, easy to care for, backspacing is good for older trucks.

Mine's not a '60-'66. but i've got the Blazer Ralleys on my '55, too. Nice thing is that they will fit all the way back to at least '47 without any fitment issues.

I am also running the 1976 Blazer 15"x8" Ralley wheels under my 55 Cameo, but I am also using the 4x4 axles. I am in the process of re-installing the original front and rear axles but will keep the wheels, as I am planning to run disks on all four corners.

I have a set of 15" chevy rally's, not sure what they came off of. The center caps had 4x4 logos on them when I got the truck. I ditched those and am running capless right now. I think that they must be from a newer 4x4 chev...not sure though. Mine are painted silver with the stainless beauty ring. I really like how they look. I think that they are 8 inches wide, cause my 9.5 inch tires don't "baloon" very much on them. Good enough for now.

Woog:

Good post topic. I have a number of different wheels on my fleet of '64-'66 Chevy trucks, but my all-time favorite is the Rally truck wheels. My first '66 Chevy C10, in '81 had a brand new set of Rally truck take-offs from my father's '81 Chevy 1500 4x4. Many of the wheel combinations are shown in my signature line of my Gallery entries.

I started with the original skinny 15" split rims with 7.00 X 15 tubes and tires. Now I have 16" wheels - 7" rear, 6" front. They were custom built by Stockton Wheels utilizing old centers that match my originals. I had them powdercated and am using my original hubcaps. My new tires are Continental 235 75R16s. Here are before and after pics. http://client.webshots.com/client/c...photoID=2515435560071636143&source=c

My driver has 6 lug chrome modular wheels with drum brakes. The donor truck has 6 lug white spokes. Will most likely stay with the 6 lug but still undecided on the wheel as of now.
