I have 15" rims and don't want to spend $400 on a set of tires. I have found some 7.00x15 bias ply trailer tires for $40. What's wrong with going with them?

well, an 8 ply tire at 60psi is gonna be a pretty harsh ride, especially in a bias ply, but the load rating looks like it'd be safe enuff - what's wrong w/ them is your life depends on that $40 tire! I'd look around for some good used tires if you can't spend much

I have that very same tire on my 18' car hauler. The T designation means trailer use only, but they can be used in a truck. There was nearly the same tire (stock!) on a couple of 1981 Chevy 1/2-ton USAF trucks our squadron had in our pool. Wasn't real crazy about the way they drove on those skinny bias-plies, but they worked! The sidewalls are stiffer on a "T" tire, even more so than a "LT" pickup tire. And, that's why you should NEVER run "P" passenger-car radials on a trailer, especially a tandem-axle.

Yes, they'll work.

They may be perfect for a ramp truck but they would be very dangerous in highway use. Your life depends on your tires. I advise against it.

I tow my car hauler 80+ mph on these same tires with nary a problem. Currently, they've got about 80% treadlife left and have a little over 20K miles on them. The things that you need to concern yourself about with these tires on a truck is ride quality (low), durability (high), road travel (excessive for any truck with a straight front axle), and type of use (no way for the highway, but fine for around town, <55mph or farm use).

Weigh your options, but if you're going to do any real road use at all, spend the $$$ on the 10-ply radials.

LT means light truck. And that tire looks very much like the ones on the front of my 52, which now have around 25,000 miles on them. Still have lots of tread, and have had no problems with them.

rpmathis - usually you can find pretty good deals on basic tires for a 15 inch wheel.
