Well that is what the sign in an old Hardware store said. You can have any 2 that you want but you can't get all 3.
I don't have an answer for your question as to where to get one but I would suggest talking to the local auto a/c mechanics in town and asking them where they would buy parts for there car, not the customers car but their car. That should tell you where to go. Good luck!

I had one "new" York pop the belt on the freeway after one week. This used one is great, quiet. The little adapter shoe is about $35.00 and you can go to a Sankyo or any number of those style compressors. I think you will also find that those type compressors steal less horsepower from your vehicle's engine. Joe

I'm concerned about my fittings matching the new rotary compressors. I don't want to have to buy new hoses. Regardless, I may go with a York to Sanden conversion setup if I can't find a cheap York.
Your point about the power loss is well taken. My 3/4 ton needs every horse that the 235 can muster.

Today they mostly use Sanden (Sankyo-same thing), which was originally designed by a guy from TexAs. Belts always flop like crazy with the 2 cyl York. Thousands of VW Jettas in the wrecking yards use the 505 or 508 Sanden. 5 cyl.-5 cu. in. would be better than 8cu. in. unless you upgrade to a much bigger, newer, more efficient condenser. With 134A, bigger is not better for compressors.
