| | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 46 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 46 | Got to sort the door glass in my 63 GMC fleetside; driver's door's got no felt left, glass just dropped off the runner and gone down into the door, fortunately not broken. The spot welds on the channel had snapped but should be able to stick them back with "plastic metal". The passenger side window's not been used for so long, the glass is stuck shut! So while I'm doing one I might as well fix the other, too much rain over here in the UK to leave the window open permanently!  Question; in the Chevy Duty parts book, two types are specified, one with metal frame and one without. What is the difference please and which is better to use as replacement?

| | | | | Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 622 Member | | Member Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 622 | I bought the Chevy Duty window rubber kit which included both doors the front windshield and the rear window. I just recently replaced the door rubber and window molding.
Which part are you talking about? The kit that I got had metal runners for the window guides. It worked ok. The only problem that I had was that the felt on the pieces which go on the bottom of the window opening. The felt was to thick and the metal window runner at the base of the window hit it keeping the window from rolling up all the way.

My problem is that i'm not too sure which one I need. First truck I've owned, and over here there's not often another in the same county, let alone town, to compare to!

If you roll down your window and just the glass edge is there, you need the kit WITHOUT chrome trim. Regards, Wannabe

Got it fixed now, off to my first show tomorrow, just a local vintage thing with cars, tractors and a few steam engines (stationary and road-going) weather's looking fine! No prize expected tho unless they have a "Best See-Thru Bed" category; must get that yellow pine ordered!
