Welcome to the board!
I don't know if I can help you with the barganing part, but I will give you a tip.......be prepared with a plan! I bought a Suburban without a great plan and now I own three parts trucks (Well almost three one of them is in parts in the process of being restored.) What do you want to do, rod, restore or something in-between? How many parts do you need and how many parts will the parts truck provide you with? Assess your truck, write down a list fo what you need. Take pictures of it before and as you disassemble it, it will help you remember how to put it back together. Have you read any books on restoring your truck? Do you have the necessary manuals that will assist you? If not get some, they will be invaluable in your quest. Another factor to consider is where are you going to store the vehicles and will you have the necessary tools to remove the parts. This is all part of the planning and hopefully you will have help. Spend a little time with yor gramp-pa and your father and seek some of their advice, you will be glad you did in the end. And most of all have fun! grin

You're about to get shafted on that parts truck! Figure out how many NEW replacement parts your $3,000.00 will buy, without having to dispose of the rest of the parts vehicle, and I think you'll see the wisdom of just buying what you need. Swapping a used wiring harness is a pain, and it's probably better to buy a new one.

That's way too much for a parts truck...

BTW, you build the truck YOU want. Let Dad build his own.

Three thousand Canadians??? Won't that reduce you population by, what, half??? I'm surprised people still deal in people these days. Most of us use cash, but I've heard funny things about what happens North of the 49th Parallel!!! wink

You may not even need a parts truck if your truck is near complete. What is worn out on your truck will probably be worn out on the parts truck. Some times a parts truck can be ok but it should be really cheap. Salvage yards can be a good source for used parts. I have had good luck from Toms Truck Parts in Miami Oklahoma.

I like old trucks
