I have an old set of Fiamm air horns missing the little compressor that goes with it. Does anyone know if airhorns can be honked with manifold vacuum? Maybe I'll just try it.

isn't that kinda like whistleing when your breathin in? grin you can get little compressors for those things at places like maybe JC Whitney, and there's compressed air cans to run the ones they use at ball games

Probably less futzing around to simply purchase a new set with the compressor.

I think you'd need to use the vacuum to run a compressor, and then you'd need to store the compressed air so your horn would work when vacuum is low.

Go to a salvage yard, and get the air shock compressor off an old Cadillac Fleetwood. (Late 70's to mid-80's) It's already got a pressure-control switch built in, and you can use a small Freon tank as a reservoir. The control valve and air tubing for the horn can be had at any truck parts store, and you're in business!

Once upon a time I took an old air tank from a truck w/air brakes and installed a threaded air stem so I could charge it with my shop or jobsite compressor- ran a line to the pirated air horns and was in business (150 psi really makes 'em speak)
