I have been trying to locate brake return springs for my 48 2-ton rear brakes and have had no luck with the local parts house. J. Carter advertises them, however when you get the ME148's they are not the proper length. In fact his catalog states that they are 7" long as they should be, but the spring he sends out is 10" long. Any ideas where to find a correct spring? I need to get the truck going to be in a parade this weekend in Omaha, NE.

This morning when I woke up a strange thing happened. No not that. The springs from J. Carter transformed themselves into the correct 7" springs instead of the flimsy ones that my wife had switched them out for prior to my discovery of the order. She figured THIS would be funny as she knew how frantically I had been searching for the correct springs. The joke is on me.

Wives. You have to love them, even though you don't always know why!

But it does sound like something I would do. grin

I purchased the ME148's and they were the right ones and size. I would try to call them to see if they sent the right stuff.

bda, read the WHOLE thread.

It's quite a life,
when you've got a wife.
It ain't no fun,
if you don't have one.

Anyone ever seen a scale model of a 1951 chevy. Any scale would be ok. If one exist, I would like it to be the green like the original 51 I have which has been in the family since it was purchased. Shawn, a good mechanic would make do with whatever springs you had. My gosh, how long have you been married and still get fooled like that. Makes you wonder if you'll ever catch on.
