On our 1951 gmc 1/2 ton longbed, we have a set of fender emblems. They are rockets. We know Olds had rockets, but GMC's? I pulled them off today and the paint behind them is still the original color of the truck, while the rest of the body has faded badly. I can only assume it came this way or these were put on right after the truck was bought? Has anyone got any info on these emblems. They are made by EMPCO and were made in the USA. We cant find reference to these anywhere! HELP! Thanks gang.

Wow, that's a new one - I haven't seen anything like that on a GMC or Chev. In general trucks didn't get much chrome or flair, so I would suspect someone pulled them off a car to spiff up the look.

I don't think they started doing little trim pieces like that until the 60's or so. Might be from a truck of that era.

For some reason gmc rockets ring a bell although I cant remember what bell. I do know who to ask though and I will ask them next week.
