It runs excellent but I have a question for the future of it. I also have a nice running '56 261 that I've stored away. If my 250 ever gives up on me then how hard/easy would it be to put the 261 in it? Or would you guys trade the 261 for another 250 and 4 spd. for a spare setup?

At any rate, if you don't get any answer, you might try asking this in the Engine and Driveline Forum.

It is pretty hard to kill one of those in-line sixes. Several years ago, some guy at a junkyard in Connecticut told me that they had a '65 come in with a blown engine. It still had gas in the tank, and they decided to run the engine (with no oil) and put a rock on the gas pedal. Guess what happened. It wailed for at least an hour before running out of gas!!!
That 250 probably has a long way to go, so don't worry about it too much.

If you want to stay with a 6 and want some power track down a 292, it bolts right in and the power will surprise you.
